In The Walking Dead‘s season finale. We finally met Negan, and in our introduction, he killed one of our heroes from Alexandria. In an excruciating cliffhanger, there is no indication of who was killed. By the time the cliffhanger was resolved, emotions were drained and I think people were just annoyed at having to wait seven months to find out who died. In addition, the massive cliffhanger raises expectations. You know that if a fan-favorite character dies, fans will go nuts. But if you don’t kill someone high enough on the “food chain,” fans will also go nuts, in a different direction.
Irrespective of its usefulness as a storytelling technique, this cliffhanger left us with one, vital question: who the hell died? Rick, Carl, Michonne, Darly, Glenn, Maggie, Rosita, Eugene, Abraham, Sasha, or Aaron; who do you think it is?
With all of the fore-shadowing for Glenn with all the bats over the past seasons, you might expect it to be him. Personally, if I had to choose who it is, I would choose Aaron. I feel like I need everyone else to stay on the show.
The actor who plays Daryl, Norman Reedus, has a new show called “Ride with Norman Reedus,” which is beginning in June. This does scare me, but a lot of actors work more than one show at a time. Daryl is my favorite character. He doesn’t exist in the comics, so we do not know of any impending doom that may happen to him within the show. Since he just got his bow back, I feel like they cannot kill him off yet.
